International Exchange Gathering
At the National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD), we host a large number of trainees from overseas. In fiscal year 2024, we welcomed 88 trainees from 21 countries and regions, and the number of international trainees has continued to increase every year. However, once training begins, some trainees expressed that they had few opportunities to interact with trainees in other departments or with NCCHD staff.
To address this, we held an International Exchange Gathering as a platform for international trainees to connect with one another as well as with NCCHD staff. The event was organized primarily by pediatric residents in the Center for Postgraduate Education and Training.
The gathering took place in a relaxed atmosphere over light refreshments and was attended by a total of 37 participants--21 international trainees and 16 NCCHD staff members. During the event, several trainees introduced their home countries and affiliated hospitals, which greatly enlivened the occasion.
We plan to continue holding such gatherings on a regular basis going forward.
