Donation

While the NCCHD receives government funding of about 30 billion yen annually, this money is allocated to research and development, and not allowed to use for the operating expenses. We therefore depend on the generosity of people like you to help us continue providing state-of-the-art, high quality medical care to our patients.

The NCCHD has three types of donation.

  • NCCHD Fund
  • Momiji House Fund
  • The Research Fund (this fund supports specialized research at the NCCHD)

How your donations are used

Donations for advanced medical care, maintenance of medical facilities, and human resource development

In 2018, the NCCHD received donations in the sum of 110 million yen for the treatment of the sick children in our care and for research in pediatric medicine. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the donors for their generous support.

1. Auxiliary artificial heart

The auxiliary artificial heart is a medical device designed to send blood throughout the entire body when the function of the heart is compromised for any reason.

Until now, many children had to be treated in hospitals far from home because small auxiliary artificial hearts were not easily unavailable in the Kanto Region.

Although our center is equipped with two auxiliary artificial hearts, unfortunately many patients must still be turned away. In December 2019, the NCCHD became the No.5 center for pediatric heart transplantation in patients younger than 11 years old. We therefore expect to be receiving more patients requiring the use of an auxiliary artificial heart.

● Gives many children waiting for treatment, especially in Kanto Region, a fighting chance.
● Reduces the burden of lengthy travel time on sick children.

2. Latest CT technology (Computed Tomography)

Radiation therapy is thought to have more adverse effects in children than adults.
Also, examinations are easier to do in adults because they are better at following instructions (such as the instruction not to move during an exam) whereas children often have difficulty keeping still. As a result, more the time is required for re-testing.
For this reason, high-speed, low-risk CT is needed for pediatric patients.

● Enables children to undergo exams quickly with low doses of radiation.
● Useful for diagnosis because it provides high resolution photography.
