Welcome to the Clinical Research Center!
The Clinical Research Center at National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD) was build recently in April 1st 2010, when NCCHD has become a research hospital, being turned into an independent administrative organization.
Clinical research covers various types of studies focused on human being, including new drug or medical device development, multi-center clinical trials, translational researches using biological materials, and epidemiological studies. Clinical researches are directed by physicians, researchers and other healthcare professionals, and our aim is to support their activities in various fashions and to promote their studies.
New diagnostic as well as therapeutic tools are developed only through clinical researches. Our goal is to maintain and promote good health of human being through pursuing above-mentioned activities.
Our Mission
As compared with Western countries, our approach to clinical research has been far behind. This is particularly true in pediatric and obstetric fields. This delay has been due to the continuous lack of appropriate infrastructure to fulfill clinical researches in our country. In the past and also true even today, physicians and researchers were required to write a plan document, prepare case report form, explain research to the person being tested and obtain informed consent, etc.
From now on, however, professional staffs specifically trained for clinical trials should take over such jobs, and it is our mission to build up new infrastructures to provide many types of services to promote clinical research. Our job also includes the establishment of the foundation for gene therapy, stem cell therapy, and tissue banking.
