International Cooperation in Maternal and Child Health Field
Preface

Nearly 99 percent of the deaths of children under five occurs in developing countries. Japan has achieved one of the best child health indicators in the past 50 years. Now we have an obligation to support the children of the world. According to WHO Millennium Developmental Goals, some of these goals aim to make achievements in pediatric mortality, maternal health and infectious diseases. History
Feb. 2005 Former-President Dr. Masayoshi Yanagisawa and his group visited Lao P.D.R.
Nov. 2005 Director of Research Center Dr. Tadatoshi Kuratsuji completed a Friendship agreement between National Mother and Child Health Hospital, Vientiane, and National Center for Child Health and Development, Tokyo.
Dec. 2005 Cohort study of Lao children was started in Vientiane.
Injury prevention study of adolescent motorcyclist was started in Vientiane.
Feb. 2006 Special lecture, First Pediatric CME in Lao P.D.R.
